A Roman dated yellow oval-shaped jasper intaglio depicting a romantic scene set in 22 carats yellow gold.

The shepherd is holding a long pole (crook) and watching a bird on a tree, while tending to his goat that is standing on its back legs as it is trying to reach out to a bird on a tree.

The person of a shepherd has always been seen from early on as a leader, protector, good person, guardian and watcher of people and things important in life.
