A bronze fragment of a probably well decorated archaic fighting shield from Magna Grecia age.
One characteristic of this type of shield is that it often sported a blazon.
This shield blazon was most likely connected to the owner of the shield, and therefore must have had some personal significance.
In some cases, the meaning might not be difficult to guess: a lion would symbolize strength and courage.
