A beautiful Hellenistic portrait of Philip II, the last Greek ruler of Macedonia before the Roman conquest.
Obverse: the head of Perseus, a diadem cutting through his rough curly hair.
Reverse: an open-winged eagle surrounded by an oak wreath, a thunderbolt in its talons. The Greek inscription reads BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠEPΣEΩΣ (“Of King Perseus” in English).
