A bust of a man in left-facing profile with a typical thick beard similar to men in portraits in the Severan dynasty.
The dynasty ruled the Roman Empire between 193 and 235. It was founded by the general Septimius Severus, who rose to power as the victor of the Civil War of 193–197. The Severan dynasty comprised the relatively short reigns of Septimius Severus (193–211 A.D.), Caracalla (r. 211–217 A.D.), Macrinus (217–218 A.D.), Elagabalus (218–222 A.D.), and Alexander Severus (222–235 A.D.)
